It is rare that we cannot hold a workshop as scheduled, but on occasion, LOD must cancel a program due to one or more of the following:
- Enrollment not meeting a cost-effectiveness standard.
- A trainer not being able to train as scheduled.
- Inclement weather
If the workshop for which you are scheduled is canceled, this is how we notify our participants:
1. An email from email@example.com sent to the email you provide when you register for the workshop.
2. A notice on our WVU LOD web page: lod.hr.wvu.edu
3. A notice on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WVULEAD

If you notice that inclement weather is approaching, we encourage you to check our WVU, Facebook, or Twitter account pages where we will post updates in order to keep you informed. You may see a message such as, “Training and Development is aware of the approaching storm tomorrow afternoon. We will post an announcement here if your workshop should be canceled due to inclement weather.”
Checking the status of your workshop reservation on these pages will provide you with the most immediate and up-to-date information. If you are following us on Twitter, you will automatically receive an update via your cell phone, which is the easiest and most efficient way to get messages.
If you are still unsure, please call 293-7217 after 8:00 a.m. on the morning of the workshop to find out whether or not it will be held. In other cases, you may be notified by phone or email prior to the workshop.
Every attempt will be made to reschedule a canceled workshop. If this is a workshop for which you have paid a registration fee, the payment will be transferred to cover the rescheduled workshop.
Participant Registration Cancellation Procedure
If you find you cannot attend a workshop, it is important that you cancel your reservation at least 48 hours prior to the session by sending an email to LOD@mail.wvu.edu so those employees on the waitlist may have an opportunity to attend. At times, it may be possible for you to send someone in your place without displacing another employee on the waitlist. If this occurs, please call 293-7217 for approval.
